PE foam planks have always been perceived as ‘BAD’ for the environment. With new advances in technology, not only is PE 100% recyclable, it is also recycled before we convert it.
An environmentally friendly packaging manufacturer should be doing at least three things with their foam:
- Reduce inventory items and consolidate to recycled planks wherever possible
- Design packaging with the least amount of packaging using optimal foam placement and design without the use of hot melt glue, wherever possible.
- Use a densifier to reduce the trim in production so that it can be recycled
